Steve Shamy – Chair
Steve Shamy, Chairman of ASCN, is the General Manager of Rannerdale Veterans Care in Christchurch, New Zealand. Since his appointment to the role he has managed the organisation through significant change and growth.
His background includes serving in the Royal New Zealand Navy, practicing as a registered nurse specialising in trauma nursing and working in the area of healthcare management. He held senior health management roles across both the public and private health care sectors. He also worked for World Vision in humanitarian disaster relief management roles in Cambodia, Thailand and across Asia. Steve completed his post graduate studies in Health Management and MBA papers at Otago and Canterbury Universities.
Steve has both authored and co-authored papers in a number of international health care journals and has been actively involved in international health related research projects. Steve has worked closely with other organisations supporting the New Zealand Veteran community. He has networked with government and non-government Veteran support agencies in Canada, UK and Australia on Veterans care issues. He has a particular interest in promoting community-based restorative programmes to support Veterans and their families.
