2015 Centenary of Anzac Veterans Mental Health Symposium
The 2015 symposium in Christchurch, New Zealand considered how the health, care and human services sectors in Australia and New Zealand can respond more effectively to the mental health and associated physical health and social determinants of younger Veterans and their families. In particular, how the current and future trends in the presentation, screening and management of Veterans and their families with mental health disorders including PTSD and associated disorders might be used to inform and shape service and capability development and delivery.
The symposium was a catalyst for positive change and kick-started ongoing dialogue that contributes to developing appropriate models, service innovation and practical solutions that lead to a more active sharing of ideas and experiences in areas of common interest and concern.
ASCN is working to deliver on the actions from the symposium, as outlined in the symposium report, available in our Members Hub. One key action delivered is the report Understanding Veterans in the community: who are they and what are their health care needs? and follow-up Webinar in January 2016.
